🛕 About Shivkhori – The Mysterious Cave Shrine of Lord Shiva
Shivkhori, meaning “Shiva's cave,” is one of the most sacred and mystical shrines of Lord Shiva, located in the Reasi district of Jammu & Kashmir, around 70 km from Katra. This naturally formed cave is nestled in the picturesque Trikuta Hills and attracts lakhs of devotees every year.
The cave is about 200 meters long, 1 meter wide, and gradually narrows as you move inside. At the end of the cave lies a naturally formed Shivling, believed to be self-manifested (Swayambhu). Along the cave walls, you can see naturally shaped figures of other deities like Ganesh Ji, Kartikeya, Parvati Mata, and even Sheshnag, formed by dripping water and mineral formations — adding a divine mystery to the experience.
Inside the cave, one feels the echo of “Om Namah Shivaya” vibrating through the stone walls, making it a deeply spiritual and soul-stirring journey. The atmosphere is both thrilling and serene.
